Because of the size and location of the trees, this photo was a bit of a challenge. The current house is quite similar in many ways. The windows, six over six panes, appear to be the same. The door on the right appears to be the same. However the porch is gone, replaced with a small overhang above the door on the right. The door on the left is gone. Note especially, the attachment on the right side is gone. At one time, the attachment was a kitchen. A portion of the wall on the right side is stone, the outside of the fireplace.
"The George and Laura Huff lived at 137 South Main Street. The Huff family moved into 137 South Main in 1921. I believe both daughters were married "from home." Bertha married Wolcott Beard in 1928 . Marjorie was married in 1941 to William Roland Tantum, who died in World War II. In about 1954 she was married in the Pennington Presbyterian Church to his brother, L. Edmund Tantum, and the reception was held 'at home.'" (Carol Ehrlich) George and Laura Huff, with their daughter Marjorie, are listed as the owners in the 1930 US Census. The Huffs lived at 137 South Main Street from 1921 to around 1977. return to 137 South Main Street |
